2016 KDrama List

What I watched in 2016:

Creme de la Creme

Memory: amazing from beginning to end, Lee Sung Min’s an actor’s actor, a director’s actor, or whatever kind of actor you need him to be.
Signal: solid, awesome drama; Lee Je Hoon, Kim Hye Soo, and Cho Jin Woong act the hell out of this one.
Cheese In The Trap: so refreshing; Seo Kang Joon shines. Uniquely different tone with Kim Go Eun as a capable guide to a darker, more true-to-life perspective.
Entourage: the remake of the US series was fun, bright, and easy to watch, with slick production value, but, more notably, a keen look inside the business of Hallyu.

Next Best Picks

Page Turner (3-episode drama special): Ji Soo, Ji Soo, and Ji Soo.
Descendants Of The Sun: minus the cringey English and a handful of other misappropriations.

And these I watched.
Scarlet Heart: Ryeo was probably my most anticipated drama of the year, and likely was the same for many what with IU having a half dozen handsome princes circling her at a palace. If you weren’t in love with Kang Ha Neul, you are now (at least, for the first handful of episodes).
Let’s Fight, Ghost
: Kang Ki Young-David Lee bromantic chemistry is off the charts.
Lucky Romance: Hello, Ryu Jun Yeol. Had the obligatory cheesiness and some hokey tchotchkes thrown in, but couldn’t help but like it anyway.
Oh Hae Young Again: last 2-3 eps are missable.

And I wanted to love these, I really did, but they missed the mark:

Uncontrollably Fond
Come Back, Mister
One More Happy Ending

And the jury’s still out (I’m still catching up on):
Shopping King Louie: fun but in a silly way I don’t mind so far.
Jealousy Incarnate
Squad 38

Will Catch Up On, But Probably Not Soon
W-Two Worlds

And I enjoyed, but could not see through to the end:
Dear My Friends

Tried, but could not get into:
Moonlight Drawn By Clouds
: it ate up all the ratings, but I don’t see what the fuss was about.
Laurel Tree Tailors

Watched basically the whole shebang, but sheepish about it:
Let’s Drink (aka Drinking Solo)

And picks from not so long ago (2015):
Reply 1988

Splash Splash Love (2-episode drama special)
Oh My Ghostess
She Was Pretty

More to come, stay tuned!
