Somebody’s been rockin’ the top-button hard.
Our leading man in Lucky Romance, Ryu Jun Yeol (aka RJY, who stole our hearts in 1988) has been styled in clean casual wear so curiously, I can’t help but wonder which ’90s rappers were on the wardrobe designer’s inspiration board.
With Ryu Jun Yeol’s character Je Su Ho, it’s as if the NWA said, “Hey, show some swag. Quietly, though.”
Lots of comfy, drapey sweaters and sweatshirt solids. Clean, unfussy colors. With a hint of nerd.
But then there’s the hip hop throwback with the single-top-button-buttoned, plaid or collared shirt. It’s this unexpected little pop of edge where you least expect it, but can’t deny such intentional detail.
Know any video game designers/CEOs that could pull off all of these looks? (Sidenote: when do we all get to wear sweatshirts to work? And sneakers?)
Excuse me while I grab something comfortable.
